Heartbreaker

The Bills came thisclose to pulling off the biggest upset of the 2007 season last night but fate was not on their side as a last second 53-yard field goal sent the Bills to a 25-24 loss. The Bills defense played a phenomenal game, forcing Cowboys QB Tony Romo to throw 5 interceptions, 2 of which were returned for Bills’ touchdowns. Special teams also played their part as Terrence McGee ran a kickoff back 103 yards for another touchdown.

The Bills had a 24-16 lead with just over 20 seconds remaining in the game when the tires fell off. Romo hit WR Patrick Crayton for a touchdown to make it a 2 point game. Buffalo was able to stop the 2-point conversion attempt, but they were unable to recover the ensuing onside kick. Dallas was able to move the ball to the Bills’ 35 yard line, setting up the field goal attempt with just 2 seconds left. Buffalo tried to ice kicker Nick Folk with a late timeout, but he was able to recover and knock home the game winner, stunning the Buffalo crowd.
