You can’t handle the truth!!

Overheard inside Commissioner Goodell’s New York City office…

Belichick: Son, we live in a league that has defenses, and those defenses have to be scored on by men with footballs. Whose gonna do it? You? You, Greg Aiello? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for the Jets, and you curse the Patriots. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That the Jets’ loss, while tragic, probably saved the Patriots’ division championship. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, wins Super Bowls. You don’t want the truth because deep down in places you don’t talk about at fantasy football draft parties, you want me on that sideline, you NEED me on that sideline. We use words like blitz, tackle, interception. We use these words as the backbone of a defense that  wins championships. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who runs a league that is defined by the Lombardi trophies that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide them. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you put on a helmet, and cover your man. Either way, I don’t give a damn what you think you are entitled to.

Goodell: Did you videotape the signals?

Belichick: I did the job I… 

Goodell: Did you videotape the signals!? 

Belichick: You’re goddamn right I did!
